As in returned, he hasn't got ankylosing spondylitis or anything. How was the holiday, Drunkster?

Holiday was nice for the most part. On my first day, I had a dodgy ski and got stuck having to walk a couple of miles down a mountain and across the resort, carrying all my stuff and wading through the snow.
I ended up with a badly pulled muscle on my right thigh, meaning I could only ski for a couple of hours each day before it became agony. What I did was quite fun, though, and the food was nice, and I played videogames and read books and listened to podcasts.

Sounds ideal. In my mind, the best sort of skiing holiday is one where you don't ski much.

But seriously, hope your leg clears up soon, and I'm glad you had a good time.

Sounds like my ideal holiday too.

Although, I'm sure you were wanting to do more skiing. Hope you recover quickly, sir.

Oh, my legs fine as long as I'm not skiing. Part of the problem is that it uses muscles I never normally use, so after a couple of days I was walking, running and jumping just fine, but turning and stopping skis was agony.

Any holiday in France is a good holiday, as far as I'm concerned - skiing injury or not!

As for me, I've just spent an hour and a quarter in the topographical nightmare that is IKEA. On the plus side, though, I've got an ace idea for my naming convention in Sun or Moon.

You cannot, CANNOT, CANNNNNNNOT say that and then not tell us what it is Zero! Who knows when S&M will see the light of day...


Speaking of which, it's always nice to meet people who share my interests. I met a girl down the pub today who had a Zelda tattoo. Good work, girl. Good work. (We also talked about Pokémon, hence the "speaking of which".)

Also whoever first put blackberries in a mojito is a genius and should be referred to as such.

IKEA product names. We bought some Fintorp stuff today, which I thought would be a good name for a Sharpedo.

Also, Triforce on the left hand?

...Triforce on the ankle. She didn't feel like having it all visible and that, I guess.

Flintorp has to go to a rock-type, surely?

I've seen a few Triforces on the hand in UV ink, which is super cool.

Yay, it's officially an election year!  July 2nd we can go to the polls to choose between a leader who'll destroy the rental market and a leader that does nothing, WOOHOO!!

Lot of people are complaining, justifiably, about the sheer number of celebrities who have died thus far in 2016.  We lost Satoru Iwata and Terry Pratchett in 2015, for me 2016's been an amazing year in comparison!

I like how naturally Puss is holding the ice cream - not like a mugging knife at all.

I don't like how many people I like have died in the last 12 months.
(Wait, those two things sound like they're connected - I'm not saying Puss in Boots is involved). I keep thinking about who is going to be next - I reckon there will be... 5... famous people that I love who might not be here in 2017, but I don't want to official-ise my predictions, because it's unbearably grim to do so .

Iwata, Bowie and Nimoy have been the ones that really hit me recently. They were all people I felt a strangely personal connection to, as though I knew them and they were there for me. There do seem to be a lot going just now, though.

Pratchett, Nimoy, Iwata, Rickman, Corbett... it's been a poor time of it of late. Pun genuinely not intended.

Richie Benaud was the saddest one for me besides Iwata.

I suspect we're not even close to the end of this turn of events, it's just that time in the cycle now alas.

There's a period of popular culture which we as a society are unwilling to let go off. That same collective are now reaching an older age and dying, unfortunately.

Yay, another celebration of Anzac day, the day where absolutely no other country besides Australia battled desperately at Gallipoli and sustained heavy losses.  Definitely not New Zealand, whose name is most definitely not part of the Anzac name, and Australia was definitely the only country to suffer losses in the world wars.  


Fun fact, I used to wag school every year when it was the Anzac Assembly.  You haven't known torture until you've heard the Australian Anthem Dirge sung by a super lame school choir.  When Trump says he'll bring back worse than water boarding he's referring to that.

Why haven't we changed our anthem to Jerusalem yet? Current one is terrible.

I sat silently and refused to stand up for our National Anthem at WWE Raw, then shouted Up the Republic. Got some chuckles but failed to start a chant

Sri lankan one can't be that bad, it's literally impossible to be worse than this!

I dunno, I hear the Australian anthem in my head long after the Olympics has finished. It's catchy. Our one: not catchy; too short; therefore slowed down when we get medals for stuff; also slightly awkward subject matter.

You've chosen a tripe version of it though Athrun!  That was a cooing boyband: this is much better.  And, yes, much better than GAWD SAEV THUR KWEEN.

Nobody sings the second verse of a national anthem anyway - but I can't help noting, "For those who come across the seas, we've boundless plains to share, with courage let us all comb- NOT YOU YOU GET BACK ON YOUR BOATS."

Have I ever mentioned how annoying the neighbour is and how bad australian lounge room planning is?  

Makes the fact the landlords mother lives at the front of the pair of units even more annoying than it normally would be.  Old, speaks rubbish English, and thinks she has the right to constantly knock on the pair of units doors and bedroom windows at extremely disturbing hours when she knows the tenants are in because she wants to moan about her latest bill or wants a jar opened.  She's the sort of person that will deliberately listen out for when you come back to your place so she can intercept you at the front door.  The sort of person who doesn't care if a tenant has cancer because she just had a painful blood test.  

Moral of the story: be thankful if you have a dwelling where the living areas are all separated from the front door by a hallway.  Here in australia the fashion is to have the front door open right here:




I doubt it takes many guesses what inspired this borderline rant of a post. Nothing like having a lovely quiet sunday evening dinner interrupted by a certain someone literally banging on the front door not a meter from your head like it's their god-given right.
