| Not too bad so far, glad the PS3 placed though I'd have liked to see it a little higher. Bring on the next ones.
Edit: The PS3 has a great control! |

| Yup, get those bastards out of the way. The only other non-Nintendo consoles I can see making an appearance are the 360 and maaaaaaybe the PS1. But probably not.
...oops, forgot the Dreamcast, which Masofdas will no doubt have given ELEVENTY BILLION VOTES. |

| Well seeing the PSX is a Japanese only ps2 with a satellite built in if anyone did vote for it it would of gone with ps2 votes. |

| PS3 is my second favourite control, only the gamecube control ranks higher. |

| Nah, Wii U.
Speaking of which, it's obviously not going to place, which is a shame because it's a great console. Just... not many games for it, yet. |

| Gutted the PS2 didn't place higher, that was my number one placing. I can sense I'm going to be disappointed with these results. |

| Slightly surprised to see the PS3 above the PS2. I had the general, vague and woolly impression that the PS2 was so long-lasting it had many ace games, but the PS3 was... er... just not as popular. Wow, I really have been paying attention! Anyway, to Sony the spoils so far! I hope to see some Nintendo tonight. |

| If Wii U does place now I'll be really disappointed. Not because it isn't a nice enough console (though I'm still not sold on the pad) but because it shouldn't beat consoles with massive libraries of classic games (as far as I'm concerned at least).
As for PS3 rating over 2 I personally think that each gen should in theory be getting better. If there isn't a significant improvement over the last I'd question why the gen changed. Could just be me of course, but that's definitely how I feel. |

| I'm quite interested to see where the Wii U winds up (be it in the top ten or not). As far as my own voting on it: - Spoiler:
I left it out. I considered it briefly but ultimately couldn't justify it. It's a work-in-progress at best, though I genuinely believe that with just a few more games of the same caliber of the likes of Lego City Undercover and Pikmin 3 it'll already have surpassed the overall quality of stuff such as the first XBox and the Dreamcast.
~ PS2 placed highly on my list. No console has a software library that diverse. |

| Are You Ready for 8th & 7th of course you are. - Number 8:
8th Mega Drive/Genesis 45points, 0 1stplaces (8votes) What you say:The Cappuccino Kid: The home of the 2D platformer, as far as I’m concerned. Don’t get me wrong - stuff like Streets of Rage 2 and Gunstar Heroes is brilliant, but I could justify the Mega Drive’s place on my list from its platformers alone. JayMoyles: A lack of games I really wanted to play when my Dad owned it, beyond the Streets of Rage trilogy and the now-dated Golden Axe, but a solid console with a great sound chip, even if it was trumped in almost every way by the SNES. Stu_the_great: The console that got me into gaming. The Mega Drive was a seriously cool piece of kit to an impressionable child, and SEGA went all the way marketing it as such. That Sonic the Hedgehog still survives - and indeed makes a comeback - after several turbulent years to how we know him today is testament to the impact the crowning Mega Drive game had on gamers. So many classic games and deserved success for SEGA. If only they'd moved on gracefully instead of messing about extending its life with the 32X and Mega CD, but that's another story. ZeroJones: Not a SEGA person - well, not at the time, anyway! The majority of my MD experience is through the Virtual Console, a fine machine. What I say: Much like Stu the Mega Drive got me into gaming with its Blast Processing to bring you such classics as sonic 2, streets of rage 2, golden axe 2, the decent Aladdin and Mortal Kombat with gore and so forth. Genesis does what Nintendon’t.
- Number 7:
7th Xbox 360 56points, 0 1st places (11 votes)What you say: Andyman949: Many of my favourite PS3 games are multiplats and this is the other platform I could play them on so how could it not get a mention. It has a handful of good exclusives but doesn't match up to the PS3. The best part of the 360 to me would be the Arcade titles. They have a slightly better range than PSN and I prefer the way it displays the library. Unfortunately paying for access to online games and the lack of exclusives in its later years leaves it pretty far behind its contemporaries. JayMoyles: controller is something I really lend weight to when looking at the merits of a console, and the 360 has the best controller in gaming. Tight design, good layout, solid triggers and PC compatibility - what more could you want? The games were solid too - even if the exclusives were few and far between. The Cappuccino Kid: While I don’t feel most of the first-party exclusives hold up to scrutiny when compared to those on PlayStation and Nintendo, it’s the undoubted lead platform for greatest games of the third-parties, the online infrastructure can’t be faulted and the controller is an ergonomic classic. I’ve surprised myself by putting this on my list, but it’s well deserved. Jimbob: The first non-Nintendo console (actual console) that I've owned - basically gave me access to all the best non-Nintendo games. A mate gave it to me as a birthday present as he was getting a new one. I'm eternally grateful. And an online system that works. What I say: So Microsoft’s second console which continued the good work laid out by the original Xbox with its s-type controller made even better for what is arguably the best controller ever and its online infrastructure. Best place to play 3rd party games due to online but good exclusive’s although they are few and far between which lets it down unless you like Halo. | Good to see those two make an appearance. The 360 scraped into my top ten; as clunky and unlikable as it can be, it's got plenty of good stuff going for it.
Unpopular opinion incoming: I think the Mega Drive pounds the SNES into the ground. |

| Nah, I preferred the SNES through and through. As for the 360, it was my 3rd ranked console - I had a great time with it.
Wonder when we'll see our first handheld?

| Not surprised about the 360, for the online and controller if nothing else. The Mega Drive's an "out of nowhere" for me, but then I wasn't old enough to know or care about the SNES-era console wars. About time for a Nintendo console in number 6, surely? (Either that or Mas is trolling and the entire ranking is made up of non-Nintendo units.) |

| But your older then me Balla, I think the only thing the SNES beats the mega drive on imo is the adventure genre with link to the past. All other genre's are just as good or better on the mega drive.
Also there could be 3 special guests at the end. |

Disagree totally with that - SNES has a way better range of quality RPGs and platformers, amongst other genres. |

| SNES has Final Fantasy , secret of mana etc. Mega Drive has Phantasy Star, Shining Force etc. Platformers SNES has Mario and Donkey Kong. Mega Drive has Sonic and Toejam and the better Disney games. I could go on. |

| I didn't vote for any Xboxes or any Segas but I can certainly see the training there. I actually have a lot of nostalgia for the old Mega Drive, but none of the games feel all that fun when I play them today, compared to their SNES counterparts. |

To each their own I suppose. I've never been taken with Phantasy Star or Shining Force and I don't like Sonic. Never played Toejam though (although better than Mario and DKC?!) and I'll grant you the better Disney games. - Buskalilly wrote:

This pretty much sums up the Mega Drive for me, outside of the Streets of Rage games. |

| I was one of the two who put the PS3 in first, and the 360 and Mega Drive both made my top five.
I bought a new Mega Drive not so long ago, too. So many great games that have aged brilliantly. |
