It's a mixed bag for me. For every Comix Zone, Shadow Dancer and Castle of Illusion there's an Eternal Champions, Golden Axe and Ecco The Dolphin. Like most retro consoles, the Mega Drive has some seriously rough stuff circa 2013.
I have fond memories of a random Saturday afternoon ten years ago in Ayr, where the new computer game shop was selling a load of Mega Drive games for £1.99 each. I left the shop with Gunstar Heroes, Castlevania The New Generation, SFII Champion Edition and Virtua Racing for less than £8. Four games that made a hugely positive impression on me and probably bumped the console up in my own list.

The SNES and the Mega Drive are closer machines in quality than I realised at the time. My Nintendo blindness pushed me one way, of course, but the Sonic games are great and there are plenty of good platformers on the MD (Pulseman is a little gem and Ristar deserves to be more celebrated, for example). If you could find me an MD RPG trio to top Secret Of Mana, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI, though, well... I'd have to see if I could download them.
Come on, Nintendo machines! Let's be having you!

Zero here's some RPG's to lookout for on mega drive (some might be there genesis names) not all JRPG some are more of the action rpg that might compare a bit to zelda, if you can download somewhere Beyond oasis, Shining Force's, Phantasy Stars, Lunar's (mega cd games), shadowrun, Shinning in the darkness, Soleli, Sword of Vermilion , Warriors of the Eternal Sun, The Faery Tale Adventure, Rings of Power, Light Crusader, Beggar Prince (came out in 2006), Ys, Star Odyssey (came out 2011), legend of wukong (came out 2008), and pier solar which is coming in HD form to various systems such as the wii u (I've got the dreamcast version coming).
If anyone else is looking for quality mega drive games let me know, not all the above are top quality though but some like Soleli might even as good as link to the past.
Also know one apart from jays one guess of hulk hogan guessing whom the special guests could be if they actually get there asses in gear all 3 have said they will have something ready before saturday but don't be disappointed if none show up sorry.

Want some more of course you do.
Number 6:
6th SNES: Super Nintendo Entertainment System 61points, 1 1st place (11 votes)
What you say: Jimbob: In terms of percentage, the SNES had probably the highest rate of truly awesome games. Even the film/TV licenses weren't that bad. What a time to be alive.
ZeroJones: he console of my golden era of gaming. So many brilliant pieces of software with so much invention, imagination and joy. Having graduated from the NES, the SNES gave us a riot of colour and novelty in almost every game. I genuinely feel - despite the rose-tinted glasses I know I'm wearing - that I've never got more out of a console.
JayMoyles: The better of the only two consoles my Dad ever owned, that I got to experience. Better graphics, better games, a better controller and solid enough music made this the superior choice over the Mega Drive. Andyman949: My first console and a brilliant one it was. So many classic games are on this system and another one I'm still trying games for the first time to this day. I love the graphics, I love the games and I love the control. Probably heavily nostalgia fuelled but heck the games alone carry this on their own merits.
Stu_the_great: Now you're playing with power super power! I'm honestly not big into the SNES and I wasn't back in the day, but there's no denying that the console took the next logical step from a hardware perspective and provided us with bigger, bolder gaming experiences. Also the console where long-running favourites such as Metroid and Castlevania, found hardware capable of sporting their respective creators' visions. The controller was a damn sight more comfortable to use, too.
What I say: I did vote for the SNES I still say the Mega Drive is better for reasons that I’ve already gone into. The SNES does have quite a few quality games such as Yoshi Island which you know is my favourite 2D MARIO game which got the SNES on my list just for that game.
Number 5:
5th Nintendo 3DS 62points, 2 1st places (11 votes)
What you say: Stu_the_great: I often wonder how much better the DS would've been if it had 3DS' Circle Pad. It's funny how such a little thing can have such a profound difference, but now going back to the DS d-pad seems like a major step back. The touchscreen gimmicks have pretty much died a death by now, so the 3DS simply compensated for this by giving us an already-admirable catalog of excellent games and even better features. StreetPass anyone? 3DS is proof that Nintendo knows its market when it comes to handhelds.
Buskalilly: Man, the 3DS is fabulous. Like the Wii U, I think it will go down as one of my all-time favourites. At the moment, though, it hasn't had long enough to form any nostalgia for me. Also, I hardly ever turn the 3D on. If we were having this vote in a month or two's time, I'd have Pokémon and Zelda and suddenly the 3DS would be much more than just a bulky MP3 Player.
Balladeer: Already, this new console has made a name for itself with an astonishing year of releases (after an almost empty first one). The 3D is good when it works, although it does tend to hurt my eyes; but it's the games that make this handheld beauty. Not to mention that it's compatible with the DS' extraordinary backlog as well. I fully expect this to be in my top two by the end of its lifespan.
Andyman949: The 3DS is gathering a wonderful library of games but it hasn't yet reached a stage that I could rate it above the DS or the Vita. I have really enjoyed several games on it but I do not find the console (either normal or XL) comfortable to hold, nor is the 3D effect good in any game I've played other than Mario 3D Land which unfortunately hold it back from being as great as it should be. With the software library growing with many brilliant titles by the week this console could shoot much higher in future, but heck it's not very old yet so it has so much more potential. I also don't rate playing DS games on it, likely due to the lack of comfort as well as the fact they don't look as good. The Cappuccino Kid: It’s finally coming into its own. The variety both on shop shelves and on the eShop is just crazy to think about, particularly when you regard that its first eighteen months was largely a bit quiet.
Jimbob: I hate handhelds... but I really love the 3DS! The extra oomph and ingenious online workings mean that this is a handheld worth playing *coughVitacough*. Although the actual 3D bit is a gimmick.
What I say: I’m in the same boat as Jim not a handheld but I do love my 3DS even though it’s not as good as VITA hardware wise but shows that software sales system especially after the dire 1st 18 months or so. Like Busk said we still have a proper Pokémon to come and a new Zelda this system can only get better, talking of buskalilly.

He needs to explain his thing with Norris but not yet
I think the SNES was always going to win over the mega drive due to the fan base here, so the mega drive to rank so high shows how good it.

No place for the forum's sixth place on my own list. It might have made my top eleven.
A surprisingly high position for the 3DS as well. Were we doing this list back six months ago I don't think it would have charted at all. Just my opinion. I stuck it in ninth.

I was never all that wild about the original 3DS - apart from it being pocket-sized ergonomically it had nothing going for it. The 3DS XL is miles better. What an upgrade that was.

It's someone who didn't get a 3DS. When I did. God, wheneveR I try and describe our relationship to someone who doesn't know us, it sounds like bullying! But he's a good buddy really, and we have like an ash and Gary thing going on. So whenever a new Nintendo comes out, and he can't get it because he's a lazy bum who won't get a real job, I rub it in a bit.

I really have not found this yet. The increased inability to put it in a pocket also annoys me. Maybe it's because I have ladyhands - small hands, long fingers.

Pleased to see the SNES chart! Good work, old friend. For me, although the 3DS has had a good run recently - and with three or four major titles still to come, a good run in the future - it didn't make my vote because of those long periods where there was little to do with it.

I definitely do find the XL much better but it's still not a joy to hold. My left thumb in particular gets tired very quickly with the circle pad not being particularly comfortable to use and the d-pad being in the stupidest place possible. Of course this all could be because I play it for far longer than a recommended session.

I've certainly never had problems, but then I didn't particularly suffer from KIU or MPH. Maybe it's all the music, making my fingers more supple. Or maybe they'll all fall off at age fifty after half a lifetime of abuse.

Number 4:
4th Wii 66points, 1 1st place (11 votes)
What you say:
Jimbob: This may be the pressure from outside here... although there are plenty of amazing games on the Wii, the initial mass-market buzz of motion control meant that people could... but didn't check whether they should. Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess though.
The Cappuccino Kid: Sorely underappreciated. Such a capable, self-sufficient console, as far as I was concerned. This was my sole home console of choice for five years between 2007 and 2012, and I have very fond memories of gaming through those years too.
JayMoyles: I'll never be as hyped for another console as I was for the Wii. It's got a fantastic library of titles and I loved nearly every Nintendo first-party effort on the Wii. The motion controls, when implemented well, worked amazingly. It's just a shame that it became the breeding ground for waggle-o-thons as the years rolled on.
Andyman949: The only console I've ever bought on launch (well a week or 2 after because there wasn't enough stock) So many classic games on this system and it's been a wonderful gateway to multiplayer with the family. This is a console that is filled with brilliant exclusives and anyone without one is missing out on a lot of quality content. Unfortunately the lack of a decent online system and missing out or inferior versions of multiplats stop it stealing top spot. Also it's backwards compatible which is a feature I have used and enjoyed throughout the Wii's life.
Balladeer: Motion control was a nice idea hampered by poor execution and shovelware... until Motion Plus dealt with the first problem, too late by then, sadly. Had more great games than the majority give it credit for, but many of the best didn't make the best use of its much-touted waggling.
Buskalilly: My number one. If I remove all emotional attachment and look it from a logical standpoint, this is the only choice; the game that got everybody playing videogames, that put Nintendo back in the number one spot, that brought us two perfect Marios, two perfect Zeldas, Wii Sports, Wario Ware (the ultimate drunk party game) and so much more. If I ignore everything I know now, and just look at it from the point of view of my experiences, it still has to win. This was the first home console I really got to play; in my own bedroom and eventually in my own flat. This meant I got to pour hours into the likes of Super Mario Galaxy exploring every nook and cranny and 100%ing it, or spend 80 hours being mesmerised by the Bionis and Mechonis in Xenoblade. It meant I could stay up all night playing Excite Truck to get the Monster Truck. It meant I could put on Wii Sports or Wario Ware with actual human females and interact with them even when I had nothing to say, or just to coerce them into jumping up and down. A masterpiece.
ZeroJones: The codename of Revolution was an apt one. Gaming changed when we all picked up Wii Remotes and played tennis (badly).
What I say: It has Skyward Sword and Last Story that is all I can say maybe this video from Buska will help.
Number 3:
3rd GameCube 70points, 1 1st place (12 votes)
What you say:
Stu_the_great: To me, the GameCube is proof of Nintendo pulling its finger out of its arse during a crisis. GameCube has some stunning games, both first and third-party, but sadly it only managed to finish the race above the poor old Dreamcast. Home to probably Nintendo's best analogue stick, too. *Clicky-click*
Buskalilly: I can really clearly remember the day I got this. I'd seen it at Bristol Balloon festival, playing Smash Bros and Super Monkey Ball. I got it for my birthday a few months later with Spider-Man and no memory card. Still, to this day, the best present my parents ever got me. Alas, as a young’un I didn't have a TV in my bedroom, so I rarely had enough time to finish a game and the handheld was where I spent most of my gaming time. The likes of Super Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker and Starfox Assault all left an impression on me but I never actually got around to finishing them until recently.
Balladeer: It's a toy!" screamed the populace when a purple cuboid was pitted against Sony's sleek black box and MS' less sleek black box. Is that meant to be an insult? Toys drum up images of endless child-friendly fun, and that's precisely what the good old GC delivered. It's also the last time I can remember that a difference in power made a difference to how I enjoyed games: comparing Wind Waker to OoT, or Double Dash!! To MK64, or even Sunshine to SM64, the improvements are much more obvious than the move to HD. The GameCube was truly a console before its time. During its era, it ceded market share and third-party games like nobody's business, while the gaming hoi polloi sneered its child-friendly exterior and lack of SHOOTYBANG games. Today, those same people look back fondly on the GameCube and its flotilla of masterpieces. My favorite console, which deserved much better. Now, if only it had had a decent Starfox game...
Andyman949: The Cube has the best controller I've ever played with. It's so comfortable! The buttons are nice and chunky and the control fits so perfectly in your hands. It also offered a fantastic library of games that I still find myself trying to catch up on.
JayMoyles: The GameCube had the best controller in gaming in my eyes for several years until the next generation of consoles swung around. Add to that a great library of first-party titles and you've got a recipe for a great console. The lack of third-party support harmed it though.
The Cappuccino Kid: In hindsight, the GameCube arguably represented Nintendo at its creative peak. I couldn’t shake the feeling that Nintendo were sitting on their arses watching a potentially-great machine drift past them at the time, but looking back I really enjoyed the hundreds of hours I ploughed into the likes of Pikmin 2, Super Monkey Ball, SSBM and particularly Animal Crossing. Though it was always destined to struggle, it was a seriously smart console that really rewarded the relative few who stuck by it.
Jimbob: Just. There were a few wayward branches by Nintendo, but, looking back at my collection of games, there were stunners. And it had a clock!
What I say: My highest voted Nintendo system and first console I bought on launch, you can play Zelda, Zelda II, Ocarina of Time, Master Quest, Majoras Mask, Four Swords Adventures, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess on it what else do you need but then there’s the rest of the top quality 1st party games like the last proper 3D Mario I played, even 3rd party support was good for it all the FIFA’s etc. and then the likes of resident evil 4, twin snakes, tales of symphonia. Of course there’s the multiplayer as well nothing beat’s 4 player super smash bros melee. I could talk about the GameCube all day with its other great things like the GBA player, being portable and now what seems quite revolutionary second screen play with GBAs plugged into it, just bought a Jap four swords which has Navi Tracker on it which seems like a game that would be on something like Game & Wario on Wii U.

Also a few things on the cube I disagree about lack of 3rd party comments it had pretty much all the bigish title's and most properly the best 3rd party support out of the n64, wii and now wiiu will have. Also balla there was plenty of shootybangbang on it better than the ps2 to play that genre on.

Two top consoles there. They're the ultimate multiplayer party consoles if you ask me. My GameCube went with me to countless empties, as did the likes of Donkey Konga, Beach Spikers, Day of Reckoning and, of course, Super Monkey Ball. Some prick emptied a can of beer into my Donkey Konga 2 box, shut the case and let it swim until the morning, and another Tip-Ex'ed 'ROO IS GAY' onto the top of the GC itself, but other than that it's nothing but fond memories for me and the GameCube.
It's really disappointing to see how the Wii has been treated by many of my mates over the last five-six years, after the initial 'HOLY SMOKES' factor had worn off. Nintendo aren't dead folks; you just stopped playing. For the first year though, if I went out, usually the Wii did too.

Also, Buska, this Norris chap might have a complex about console launches now.

Wii can't match the PS3 to me as I tired of motion controls after the initial hype and the lack of power/multiplatform games holds it back. It got a solid second from me though. Happy the cube rated so highly but I'm surprised to see it above the Wii.
Looking to the top 2 does leave me with a horrible fear of the N64 hitting there... I'd place my other bet on the DS, please smash the N64 into the ground you beautiful dual screened beast.
